LeBron James watches his son Bronny James make his USC basketball debut after a cardiac arrest
Bronny James is carving out his own path in the world of basketball! The 19-year-old son of LeBron and Savannah James recently marked his college basketball debut, a momentous occasion witnessed by his NBA legend father seated courtside.
Having missed the first eight games of the University of Southern California’s season due to a cardiac arrest in July, Bronny entered the game against Long Beach State about 13 minutes in. The crowd erupted in cheers as he stepped onto the court at the Galen Center, with LeBron, 38, capturing the special moment on his phone, as seen in a video shared by the USC men’s basketball team on X.
Despite the excitement, Bronny and the USC Trojans faced a defeat against Long Beach State, with a final score of 84-79.
In a post-game press conference, Bronny expressed gratitude to medical professionals, coaches, teammates, and his family for their support throughout his journey back to the basketball court. He acknowledged the collective effort that helped him overcome challenges.
Bronny, who graduated from high school and committed to the USC men’s basketball program in May, had a setback when he experienced a cardiac arrest during practice in July, leading to a two-day hospital stay. Fully cleared to resume athletics last month, he rejoined his Trojans teammates for practice.
LeBron, anticipating his son’s collegiate debut, had previously shared his excitement, considering it a significant milestone for their family. He even mentioned that he would prioritize watching Bronny’s game over a Lakers regular-season match if they coincided, emphasizing the importance of family.
With Bronny’s return to the court and LeBron’s unwavering support, the James family continues to celebrate significant moments in their basketball journey.
