All we know about Kelly Clarkson’s daughter’s big moment in the spotlight this week
Kelly Clarkson is the proud mother of two children, daughter River and son Remington. While Kelly has typically kept her young children out of the public eye, this is all set to change as her eldest daughter is about to make her musical debut.
Nine-year-old River Rose will feature on track 17 of the deluxe edition of Kelly’s recent album, “Chemistry,” which is scheduled for re-release on Friday, September 22, featuring new additional tracks. Among these new songs, track 17 is titled ‘You Don’t Make Me Cry (feat. River Rose)’ and also includes remixes by David Guetta.
The song’s lyrics include the lines: “You don’t make me cry, and I cry at everything. You don’t make me feel, and I feel more than most, now that says something, doesn’t it?”
On social media, Kelly expressed her gratitude to her daughter for her contribution to the song, revealing that River recorded her lyrics when she was just five years old. In an earlier August post, Kelly shared a snippet of the song and said, “I can’t wait for y’all to hear the other songs on the deluxe, especially River Rose’s feature. She was 5 yrs old when she was layin’ down tracks for ‘you don’t make me cry.'”
“Chemistry” is an album that chronicles the highs and lows of a relationship and is notably inspired by Kelly’s own recent relationship with her now ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. Released on June 23, the album, often referred to as Kelly’s “divorce album,” received favorable reviews upon its release and marked her ninth record to debut in the top 10 of the Billboard 200.
Earlier in the year, as Kelly wrapped up her Las Vegas residency, her daughter River Rose made a surprise appearance on stage alongside her Grammy-winning mother. Together, they performed a duet of Kelly’s 2015 hit ‘Heartbeat Song.’ Kelly shared with the audience that ‘Heartbeat Song’ had been River’s favorite since she was a “baby” and that the young girl had selected a special dress for the occasion.
During the performance, River enthusiastically hit the high notes and bounced with excitement as she sang the chorus. At the end of the performance, Kelly applauded her daughter, saying, “Give it up for River Rose, everybody!” River expressed her gratitude, saying, “Thank you, everyone!”
Kelly showered her daughter with praise, saying, “You look gorgeous! You did amazing. I love you.” Following River’s performance, her younger brother Remington also joined the stage for a dance party with their mom as she sang his favorite track, ‘Whole Lotta Woman.’
Sharing a rare photo of her children before their on-stage moment, Kelly captioned it with heartfelt words: “Both of my kiddos backstage getting ready to join me on stage in Vegas, nothing will ever be as cool and amazing as these two little humans that will always have my whole heart.
