Britney Spears’ ex-husband Sam Asgari breaks silence on his portrayal in her memoir
Sam Asghari expressed his profound pride and admiration for his former wife, Britney Spears, just two days following the eagerly anticipated release of her memoir, “The Woman in Me.”
In her memoir, which hit the shelves on October 24, 2023, the 41-year-old pop icon, Britney, referred to Sam as a “gift from God” and lauded his unwavering stability. Notably, the book was published just two months after their divorce, and reports suggest that Britney had the chance to make edits but opted to leave it in its original form.
“I must admit that brought a smile to my face,” the model shared with TMZ on October 26, 2023. “I’m genuinely proud of her. I hope she conquers the world.”
Within the pages of her book, Britney penned, “I have an appreciation for how stable he is. I love that he doesn’t drink. He’s a gift from God.”
Their love story began in 2016 when the mother of two met Sam on the set of her music video for ‘Perfume.’ She fondly recalled being “smitten” after their initial encounter, stating, “I wanted him in my life,” and emphasized, “We couldn’t keep our hands off each other.
Britney also credited Sam as her unwavering “rock” during the tumultuous conservatorship hearings, which finally came to an end in 2022 following her impassioned 30-minute courtroom speech.
However, Britney’s protracted battle with her conservatorship has garnered extensive public attention in recent years. Her lack of autonomy over her life, finances, and continuous surveillance became widely known. The court-ordered conservatorship placed her father, Jamie Spears, in control of her personal and business affairs in 2008, a situation that persisted for 13 years.
Britney strongly asserted, “The individuals responsible for subjecting me to this should not be allowed to escape accountability so easily.” She recounted how she was coerced into proceeding with her 2018 tour, “Piece of Me,” and alleged that she was administered lithium against her wishes.
“The doctor took me off my regular medications that I had been on for five years. Lithium is an incredibly potent and entirely different medication compared to what I had been accustomed to. Overusing it or taking it for an extended period can lead to severe mental impairment.”
She also confessed, “I’ve been dishonest, pretending to the world that I’m alright and content. The truth is, I’m not happy. I can’t sleep. I’m battling depression, and tears are a daily occurrence.”
Sam, aged 29, initiated the divorce proceedings, citing July 28, 2023, as the date of separation. Allegations arose that Sam confronted the singer in early August regarding rumors of infidelity, resulting in a heated argument that led to Sam vacating their Los Angeles residence. Notably, Britney was photographed without her wedding band on August 17.
It is essential to note that Britney and Sam had signed a prenuptial agreement before their wedding on June 9, 2022, merely 13 months before the divorce became public knowledge.
