Regarding BJ Thompson, the Kansas City Chiefs received some great news on Friday. According to Thompson’s agent Chris Turnage, the defensive lineman is aware of his surroundings and can speak.
The good news comes only a day after Thompson had to be admitted to the hospital due to a health complications episode at the team’s training complex. The 27-year-old collapsed at team headquarters Thursday morning due to a seizure that led to a cardiac arrest, NFL Media reported. In one article, it was stated that the Chiefs trainers and medical staff were quick to address the situation, which enabled Thompson to obtain necessary treatment.
Even on Thursday night, Turnage had mentioned that Thompson was still in a state of unconsciousness, which makes it inspiring that he is now awake.
Thompson joined the chiefs in 2023 as a fifth-round draft pick in the NFL and this is his second season. He only dressed in one game in his initial season in the NBA.
The Chiefs were scheduled for their third and last OTA session for the week on Thursday, following a practice on Tuesday and Wednesday. Because of it, the Chiefs cancelled all the Thursday business and moved it to Friday.
The Chiefs also still have a mandatory minicamp, which is set for June 11 through the 13. Following minicamp, the team will not have any practice sessions until training camp that is expected to commence in mid July.
