Daniel Day-Lewis makes ultra-rare appearance with wife and son on red carpet in New York
Daniel Day-Lewis, known for his iconic role in “My Left Foot,” made a rare public appearance in New York City alongside his wife, Rebecca Miller, adding an unexpected thrill for their fans.
The three-time Oscar winner, now 66, commanded attention as he graced the red carpet with his enduring charisma. Rebecca Miller, 61, was there for the premiere of her new film, “She Came To Me,” and their joint presence exuded warmth and pride.
Daniel, known for his distinctive style, sported a dashing double denim ensemble paired with a black shirt and a unique turquoise string tie, staying true to his classic yet individualistic fashion sense.
Rebecca, renowned in her own right and the daughter of legendary playwright Arthur Miller, exuded elegance in a sleek, sleeveless black top paired with shimmering black pants, complemented by a chic designer handbag.
Accompanying them was their 25-year-old son, Ronan, who chose a relaxed look with a casual white tee and jeans.
The occasion marked the premiere of Rebecca’s romantic comedy, boasting an impressive cast including Anne Hathaway, Peter Dinklage, and Marisa Tomei. While the focus was on the film, Daniel’s presence on the red carpet was an undeniably significant moment. It had been a four-year hiatus since the renowned actor was last publicly photographed.
This appearance marked a contrast to his previous public sighting in May, where he turned heads with a vibrant blue tracksuit, graffiti-inspired trucker hat, and flowing grey hair on the streets of New York City.
In June 2017, Daniel announced his retirement from acting after the release of “Phantom Thread,” a poignant moment for the industry. Reflecting on his decision, he confessed to W magazine, “All my life, I’ve mouthed off about how I should stop acting… it was something I had to do.” With his retirement, the film world bid farewell to the unmatched talent of the only actor to secure three Best Actor Oscars—first in 1989 for “My Left Foot,” then in 2007 for “There Will Be Blood,” and finally in 2012 for Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln.” Currently, Daniel divides his time between New York City and Annamoe, Ireland, cherishing moments with his wife, son Ronan, and their younger son, Cashel, 21. He also has a 28-year-old son, Gabriel, from a previous relationship with French actress Isabelle Adjani.
In addition to Daniel and Rebecca, the premiere of “She Came To Me” drew other Hollywood stars, with Anne Hathaway stunning in a resplendent pink gown and Marisa Tomei exuding grace in a refined black dress.
