Daniel Radcliffe makes honest confession about welcoming baby son with Erin Darke
Daniel Radcliffe, the renowned Harry Potter star, has candidly shared his thoughts on fatherhood, six months after the birth of his first child with American actress Erin Darke.
In a conversation with E! News, Daniel expressed his adoration for his baby son while also acknowledging the daunting aspects of parenting. He described the experience as “terrifying,” emphasizing the immense responsibility that comes with caring for a little one.
He stated, “There’s a short answer and a long answer to that. And the short answer is it’s awesome and he’s the best thing that’s ever happened.” However, he continued, “The long version? It’s frankly terrifying to have a human being in the world that I care this much about. Everything he does is going to affect how I feel about my life for the rest of my life. So, you know, that’s intimidating.”
Daniel and his longtime partner Erin welcomed their son in April but kept the news private at the time. Photos published by MailOnline captured the British actor pushing a stroller alongside Erin.
Shortly after their son’s arrival, a representative for the couple confirmed the happy news, stating, “We can confirm that Erin Darke and Daniel Radcliffe have welcomed their first child.”
Erin’s pregnancy was publicly revealed in March when she was seen with a baby bump during an outing in New York City. Daniel and Erin have been in a relationship since 2013, having first met on the set of the Allen Ginsberg biopic, Kill Your Darlings, where they played love interests.
The couple, who generally lead a private life, disclosed the birth of their baby boy in July. Daniel expressed his delight in spending time with their son, describing it as “crazy and intense” but also “wonderful” and praised Erin’s amazing parenting. He emphasized that having the privilege of taking time off to be with their child is a treasured experience.
Daniel further explained, “I was always going to take some time off, which not everyone is able to do, and so I’m able to kind of just be here with him a lot, which is lovely. So, we’re having a great time.”
