David Muir announces unexpected news involving good friend Kelly Ripa in backstage video
David Muir stands as one of the most esteemed journalists in the United States, boasting an impressive career. While he’s no stranger to conducting interviews with high-profile individuals from around the world, he’s set to shift gears a bit closer to home next week.
At the upcoming Paley Fest in New York City, scheduled for October 11, the World News Tonight star will take on a new role, turning the tables to ask his close friends, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, some compelling questions. David, a regular guest on “Live with Kelly and Mark,” is genuinely excited about this opportunity and even shared a backstage video with Kelly and Mark to announce the news, playfully noting, “I get to ask the questions now.”
Kelly herself shared the exciting update on her social media, stating, “The tables are turning and @davidmuirabc is interviewing us and moderating our Paley Fest Panel. See you on October 11!!”
Paley Fest is a celebration of the leading talk show hosts in the United States. During the event, fans have the chance to purchase tickets and attend the session, where they can witness an intimate conversation about the hosts’ experiences, career highlights, and the stories that have shaped their journeys. Alongside Kelly and Mark, other prominent stars, including Tamron Hall and Former U.S. Senator Bill Bradley, will also be featured. Given the longstanding friendship between Kelly, Mark, and David, the interview promises to be engaging and personal.
David’s significance in Kelly’s life was evident when she included a special mention of him in the tributes section of her book, “Live Wire,” where she referred to him as the “backbone and moral compass I need sometimes.”
In return, Kelly was there to show her support when David received the news of his upcoming Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism just last month. She expressed her heartfelt congratulations, recognizing his deserving achievement. The Cronkite Award, named after the late CBS anchor Walter Cronkite, has been honoring outstanding journalists and media executives since 1984. David joins a prestigious list of high-profile recipients, including Al Roker, Robin Roberts, Gayle King, Lester Holt, Anderson Cooper, and Scott Pelley.
Upon learning of this prestigious accolade, David expressed, “Walter Cronkite famously guided this country through some of the most trying moments in modern U.S. history, and he did so by trusting his own compass, his deep commitment to journalism and the truth, and his willingness, in the darkest of times, to share his own humanity. To be honored in Cronkite’s name is not only deeply humbling, it’s a call for us all to live up to those standards, especially when they’re needed most.”
