Final Las Vegas residency performance gets emotional for Usher
The acclaimed music sensation, Usher, wrapped up his final performance for the ‘My Way’ Las Vegas residency on Saturday, marking a significant career milestone. The 45-year-old, set to headline the Super Bowl halftime show, visibly immersed himself in the moment during the rendition of “Without You.” In a fan-captured video, a shirtless Usher, adorned in silver pants, dropped to his knees, covered his face, and shared an emotional moment with his on-stage crew at the Dolby Live — Park MGM.
The touching scene continued as Usher wiped away tears, turned to the crowd, and initiated an a cappella chant of the song while stomping his feet. “God bless you, I love you,” he expressed to the audience during the final show of his residency, which commenced in July 2022.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Usher retweeted a clip from a 2004 interview with Trevor Nelson, where he discussed the possibility of a Vegas residency. In the interview, Usher, even during the peak of his Confessions era, foresaw a future in Vegas, envisioning a phenomenal and theatrical performance. Acknowledging his foresight, Usher reflected on the interview, stating, “I saw it then…look at me now.”
Recent weeks have been laden with accomplishments for Usher, including a collaboration with Jungkook of BTS for a remix of his single “Standing Next to You.” Usher celebrated the release on Instagram, sharing images of the duo and expressing gratitude to Jung Kook.
Additionally, Usher joined forces with Janelle Monáe in a heartwarming moment during his residency. Serenading Monáe during the performance of “Superstar,” Usher added another memorable chapter to his long-running residency, previously featuring special moments with artists like Doja Cat and Jessica Alba.
