Gisele Bündchen shows her emotions during her purple belt ceremony in jiu-jitsu
Supermodel Gisele Bündchen has achieved another noteworthy milestone this year, earning an intermediate-level purple belt in jiu-jitsu. The achievement was celebrated during a ceremony hosted by the Valente Brothers academy, where Bündchen showcased her dedication to the martial art.
In videos and photos shared on her Instagram Story, Bündchen, makeup-free and clad in a white jiu-jitsu uniform with a braided ponytail, expressed her enthusiasm as she received her purple belt in front of her class. Grateful for the guidance of the Valente Brothers, she thanked them for “touching so many lives.”
Bündchen’s journey into jiu-jitsu began when she enrolled her son, 13-year-old Benjamin Rein, at the Valente Brothers’ Miami martial arts academy. Subsequently, she also introduced her 10-year-old daughter, Vivian Lake, to the practice. Both children joined their mom in celebratory posts, dressed in white uniforms and radiating smiles.
Expressing her gratitude, Bündchen wrote, “Thank you for teaching us this incredible art that helps us on and off the mat.”
In a previous revelation about her connection with jiu-jitsu, Bündchen shared that the sport inspired her to “become the best version” of herself. She expressed her interest in the philosophy behind practicing jiu-jitsu, finding alignment with her personal beliefs and life goals.
Describing jiu-jitsu as an “empowering tool” for women, Bündchen diligently trained, progressing to a blue belt last year. She emphasized her commitment to continual improvement, both in her jiu-jitsu skills and personal development. Beyond self-defense, Bündchen highlighted the mental growth she has experienced through jiu-jitsu, becoming a better listener, learning to relax in challenging situations, and developing a heightened intuition about her own body.
