“Johnny Depp has wrapped up production on his second directorial effort, ‘Modi,’ an independent film project about artist Amedeo Modigliani, produced by Al Pacino. Modi’ is Depp’s second foray into directing, following his directorial debut in 1997’s ‘The Brave.’ The film is an adaptation of a play by Dennis McIntyre and chronicles 48 hours in the life of the renowned painter and sculptor, Modigliani.
This project comes after Depp’s highly publicized defamation trial with ex-wife Amber Heard, which concluded in June 2022. Depp has been reconnecting with his artistic endeavors and personal passions, and he recently showcased his French movie ‘Jeanne Du Barry’ at the Cannes Film Festival. Following its success, the film was acquired for North American distribution by Vertical.
