Mariska Hargitay shares rare cozy photo with husband Peter Hermann that gets sweet reaction from fans
Mariska Hargitay and her husband, Peter Hermann, may have bid farewell to the hot summer weather, but they haven’t stopped sharing heartwarming photos of themselves.
The stars of “Law & Order: SVU” and “Younger,” who have been married since August 28, 2004, despite facing over a week of constant rainy weather in New York City, appeared in a recent photo sporting rain boots and smiles.
Mariska, who still plays Detective Olivia Benson on “SVU,” and Peter, who once guest-starred as defense attorney Trevor Langan on the show, met while working on the series.
On Saturday, Mariska shared a glimpse of their rainy weekend in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood on Instagram. The photo shows the beloved “SVU” star wearing a white sweater over a white button-down, paired with leather leggings and white rubber boots. Peter is seen wearing a green plaid “shacket” over a white T-shirt, green trousers, and brown combat boots. They seem to be on their way to some celebration, as Mariska is holding a bouquet of green and turquoise balloons.
The caption for the sweet photo simply consisted of a green heart emoji, but fans filled the comments section with adoring compliments.
“NYC’s best-looking couple!” one fan aptly noted, while others chimed in with messages like, “No sunshine, no problem. Your smiles brighten any day,” “The cutest ever!! Y’all are always just so precious,” and “Y’all are the cutest!! The love that oozes off the two of you is so beautiful.”
Peter and Mariska, who recently celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary, had their first date shortly after meeting on set. Peter, now 56, asked Mariska, now 59, to go to church with him.
Describing the special date, Mariska once told People, “We went to church together, and it was like getting hit with a lightning bolt,” adding, “I just started sobbing. Peter thought I was crying because I was so moved by the service. No, it was because I was just overwhelmed, realizing he was the one.”
The couple has since welcomed their son, August Miklos Friedrich, 16, and adopted his siblings, Amaya Josephine, 12, in 2011, and Andrew Nicholas, 11, just four months later.
